MONTHLY COACHING PLAN - Leadership Coaching

    2 sessions, 1h 15 each

    2 x 75 minutes

Executive Coaching is for leaders who understand that what got them here, often won't get them to the next step in their career.

As many professional athletes, musicians and organizational leaders know, a one-to-one partnership with a professional coach encourages growth and development at a rapid rate. A coaching partnership benefits leaders by providing challenge, encouragement, and accountability.

As leaders grow in organizations, their responsibility increases and yet they are frequently left on their own to develop and deliver on ever-higher expectations.

Executive coaching with John focuses on what is most important to you that will lead to your highest levels of success and satisfaction. Each session is tailored to your needs and goals, paired with John's ability to help you find the courage and resilience to reach them.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT DEEP-DIVE FOR LEADERS IN TRANSITION - Leadership Coaching

    12 sessions, 1h 00 each

Research shows that 50% of Leaders in Transition fail.

As a Leader in Transition, you have taken on a new role, likely with greater responsibility and possibly in a new organization. You are motivated to make a good impression in your first 90 days and beyond. You are very resourceful, and yet the challenges of building a high-performing team and sometimes navigating a different culture can at times feel overwhelming.

    Have you:

    • Felt a lack of confidence in leading your organization?
    • Been promoted only to find that you need new skills to be successful?
    • Experienced changes in team dynamics that had you considering leaving your job?
    • Found success reaching operational goals, but struggled with interpersonal communication?
    • Had your work life leave you with no energy for your personal life?

Imagine leading with confidence, communicating productively with those you might currently find to be “difficult”, and finding success and satisfaction with your career. My goal is to help you achieve the outcomes you are looking for in your career and your life and I look forward to our first conversation.

We will partner together for three full months of coaching to build your leadership capacity and presence, or work through a currently challenging dynamic that is setting you up for greater success and satisfaction as your leadership grows. We will focus on change that really matters for you and your career goals.

We will work together in a 90-minute first session, followed by eleven 1-hour video and/or phone calls (or in-person if you are near Ithaca, NY), including additional weekly 15-minute coaching phone check-ins, and unlimited email support!

    Coaching method / approach

What should you expect from our time together? I am dedicated to both challenging and encouraging you to achieve what you want most in your career and life. Coaching is about you as a whole person: your values, goals, work, balance, fulfillment, and life purpose. During the coaching process my complete attention and focus will be on you. I will provide a forum for you to establish your goals, and together we will design a plan that matches your needs and aspirations. I will ask powerful and probing questions, offer different perspectives, and I will always be in your corner with your best interests and agenda at heart. What I do as a Coach: • Listen to you openly and actively • Ask powerful questions • Reflect/mirror back to you • Offer different perspectives • Provide structure • Assist in setting goals, planning and strategizing • Trust you to make your own decisions • Show up with your best interests at heart • Tell the truth • Believe in you and your highest good What I do not do as a Coach: • Do your work for you • Judge you • Give you legal or financial advice • Take responsibility for you or your actions What will I expect from you? Make your coaching sessions a priority in your life. We are a team accomplishing more together than either of us could do alone. Our sessions are designed to get you from where you are today to where you want to be. Feedback is encouraged and I will ask you after each session about what value you are receiving from our work together. Please share with me your stories, your wins and your disappointments, as well as your thoughts about coaching experience. I want to know what works and what does not. The real work is yours to do and I want to choose a pace that is effective for you. If at any time you are not comfortable with any part of our coaching partnership, let me know immediately so we can deal with the situation and move forward. What I ask from you: • Be completely truthful with me and with yourself. • Be willing to stretch beyond your current comfort zone. • Let me know if something isn’t working for you. • Have fun and enjoy the process! What does the “big picture” of my coaching process look like? There are THREE PHASES in building a successful coaching relationship and several steps within those phases. While some of these may happen within the same conversation or get revisited, the list below provides the general structure for the overall “arc” of the process we will explore together. PHASE I – Setting Up For Success STEP 1: Fit – our first conversation is learning about each other to ensure we are comfortable moving forward with our coaching partnership. It’s about connecting on both a human and professional level, thereby understanding how we might work together. STEP 2: Expectations and Goals – we will agree upon clear mutual expectations and what I like to call our “coaching contract” – or how we will treat one another, our “ground rules” and what specific outcomes you want from this coaching partnership. STEP 3: The Situation – this is when we explore the situation (s) on which you wish to focus, learn why this is important to you, and determine what outcome (s) you want. Choices will be made about what actions you will choose to take to reach your desired goal. PHASE II – Digging In STEP 4: Self-Discovery – this requires a personal inventory that may include various instrumentation and possibly anonymous 360 feedback to give you a fuller picture of your leadership opportunities and challenges. This is also an opportunity to clarify your personal mission, vision, and values, and to learn about perceptions and beliefs. I work through the Highland Consulting Group for these reports. In this phase, we will work with your motivations – only those where you have high clarity and high commitment – identify your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the situation you’ve identified. Assuming you are doing your work in our coaching partnership, you will see positive results; your heightened awareness and focus will quickly impact the way you make decisions and choices. PHASE III – Getting it Done STEP 5: Charting the Course – we will work on specific actions or inactions that impact your work life. Your goals will be developed to meet your concrete objectives. This phase also converts your commitment to yourself into solid and achievable action plans, with milestones and timelines. This is the phase to ensure your success. Accountability, actions, and attitude are aligned. STEP 6: Making it “Stick” – This is the support and “sticking to it” phase. Your desired outcomes and actions are tracked and documented as new habits and new behaviors are cemented. We plan for solid checks and balances and feedback loops. This is also the time when we determine how much, if any, more work we want to do together in our coaching partnership.
